Samhain
Samhain, (pronounced as “sow-ween”) the Celtic festival was prevalent long time before Halloween started and was celebrated during the day time on November 1st. It was celebrated to honor the dead and to mark the end of summer. Legend says that on this day the veil between this world and the other becomes the least. People light born fires and keep food overnight for the deceased.

The festival also marks the end of harvest season and the crops are burnt to honor the Celtic gods. People even dress up in costumes resembling the animals to honor the animals. A grand feast is flowed with lot of merriment that continues for three days.
