The world class star professional tennis player Anna Kournikova was born on June 7, 1981 in Moscow, Russia. She was born to Alla Kournikova and Sergei
Kournikova. She graduated from a Russian high school in 1997. Stardom was in store for her. It was at the age of five when her parents gave her a tennis racquet as a
Christmas gift.
At the age of nine she was spotted playing tennis in the Kremlin Cup in Moscow. She was offered the opportunity to train at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Rolex Orange Bowl tournament was next in line for her at the age of 13. She was however defeated. but this not bring a setback to her motives. The very next year she once again made to the finals and defeated Sandra Nacuk of Yugoslavia. Anna is one amongst the top ten single tennis player but till date her only Grand Slam title came in the 1999 Australian open Ladies' Doubles with
Hingis.
Apart from tennis Anna also likes reading, listening to music, watching TV, dancing, going to parties, swimming, giving tennis coaching to children, and she is also quite interested in ice hockey.
Tennis is not the only field which brought her fame. She also gained popularity due to her good looks and posing as a model. She was also named as the most searched
athlete on the internet. At present she is endorsed by Adidas,
Yonex, Berlei the famous sports bra, Omega, and Lycos. Anna was named one of People magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in the World in 1998, and graced the cover of Sports
